For Connecticut Lottery’s holiday campaign, we set out to make scratch tickets feel like a true holiday tradition—one that brings joy and adds a dash of surprise to gift-giving. Inspired by the warm nostalgia of classic holiday films, especially the beloved Rankin-Bass claymation style, this campaign brought toy-like figures to life with a magical, timeless charm. From film grain and vintage textures to holiday music, the campaign created a visual experience that felt like stepping back into a holiday classic.
Nothing says “I’ve never paid attention to any conversation we’ve had” more than a thoughtless gift. So we remixed a classic holiday song to encourage everyone to “gift better” with CT Lottery scratch tickets, which this year, offer a unique 2nd Chance opportunity.
As the Art Director, I worked closely with the talented team at BlackMath, who brought this nostalgic vision to life with high-quality animation. Using advanced facial tracking technology, BlackMath achieved incredibly lifelike expressions in our charming figurines, bringing a uniquely human touch to each animated moment.
Deliverables included developing the concept, overseeing TV spot direction, and creating assets for digital media, point-of-sale, and out-of-home advertising. Together, we crafted a holiday experience that wasn’t just about winning, but about giving joyfully.
